EDUCATION PROGRAM AND OTHER OUTREACH
Schola Cantorum San Francisco is engaged in an active and ongoing effort to reach out to a diverse cross-section of the community. In addition to concerts, liturgies and special events, ScholaSF interacts with the public in festivals, educational projects, lecture-demonstrations and master classes.

SCHOLA IN THE SCHOOLS: FOCUS ON YOUTH
Four separate programs form the core of our outreach to children and young people.

Into the Schools:
This program brings the Schola, either as a whole group or a smaller ensemble, to classrooms for informal performances, workshops and discussions. In addition to established and noteworthy schools, the Schola will also bring its unique sound and expertise to low income schools and those lacking music and arts programs.

Schools a cappella:
ScholaSF plans to bring school choirs, and if possible whole classes, to buildings of acoustical and architectural importance for rehearsals, demonstrations, workshops and performances (including joint performances between the Schola and the school choir). This project targets interested schools with choirs eager to sing in exceptional venues, and to have the experience of rehearsal and performance of choral and organ music there.

Schola Internships:
ScholaSF will provide pre-professional training to talented San Francisco Bay Area youth with proven interest and achievement in the performance of choral music, or an interest in arts administration. Interns will attend (and in some cases participate in) selected weekly rehearsals, perform basic administrative tasks on a monthly basis, and provide assistance at Schola performances and outreach events. For high school age students in established music programs.

Festival Cantorum:
Once the other school outreach programs are established, ScholaSF anticipates bringing together a cross-section of San Francisco Bay Area school choirs for day-long festivals with the Schola. These festivals will include workshop sessions for each choir, rehearsing of large-scale choral works, social breaks and events throughout the day. Following the daytime programs, there will be evening performances featuring each choir and a grand finale of a major work with all choirs and the Schola Cantorum San Francisco participating.

SCHOLA AT LARGE: FOCUS ON THE COMMUNITY
ScholaSF is particularly concerned to take choral music to those who might not otherwise have an opportunity to hear it, with two special programs.

Coming Soon To Your Neighborhood:
This program brings free choral music to neighborhoods, churches and community centers having little access to formal performances of sacred and secular choral music. ScholaSF is currently seeking funding for this program which, it is hoped, will introduce new potential audiences to this beautiful tradition, and possibly inspire some to pursue choral singing as a career or an avocation. Inner-city and low-income communities and neighborhoods are particularly targeted for this project, as well as senior citizen centers.

For The Forgotten:
The choir is currently participating in an ongoing series of concerts for prison inmates, and has performed at San Quentin Prison. This is an unusual opportunity for the Schola to take its special artistry to an underserved population.
